Accounting Assistant/Accounts Receivable - Part-Time, Temporary 

Eastern Gateway Community College is currently accepting applications for an Accounting Assistant for Accounts Receivable. This is a part-time, temporary position that will be based at our main campus located in Steubenville, Ohio. This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Finance, and will be responsible for student billing related duties with heavy concentration on sponsor billing. 

Essential Jobs and Duties

• Identifies and meets the needs and expectations of internal and external customers.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with the Business Office and across all divisions of the College.
• Administers college policies regarding student billing and cash receipts.
• Continues the day to day activities of student billing and cash receipts by performing the following specific duties:

  •  Receives and reviews source documents, records, posts to the proper accounts, and verifies the accuracy of these processes for transactions to the college.
  • Monitors student accounts and sponsor accounts for proper charges and credits, and the accuracy of the account balance.
  •  Handles and monitors third party transactions, including post-secondary students.
  •  Prepares student billing, third party billings, grant billings, and special non-credit billings, also responsible for follow up activity to ensure collection of monies due        to the college.
  • Coordinates and maintains communication between offices, including bookstore in order to share and update necessary student information.
  • Assists customers at the Business Office window.

• Maintains various files necessary to assure accuracy of the College’s student billing and cash receipts account system.
• Required to work all registrations, which may include evening hours and Saturdays.
• Assists on assigned tasks involving the input of data into the accounting systems.
• Performs general clerical tasks as needed and other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $10.00 Hourly

An Associate Degree in Accounting or related experience required.

Accounting Tutor

Eastern Gateway Community Colleges invites applications for the position of Accounting Tutor. Under direct and indirect supervision, the tutor will provide tutoring services to accounting students, offer assistance when developing study strategies, and work with students to develop a tutoring plan to fit each individual’s needs. In addition, the tutor will prepare tutoring sessions to ensure the student’s academic development, assess the student’s progress through tutoring sessions and report findings to the Director of Student Support Services, assist students who call or enter the Student Success Center, and participate in training and other professional development sessions.
Requirements include having successfully completed the course for which tutoring is being provided or a higher level course in the same field with a passing grade of A or B, the ability to demonstrate knowledge in the subject area, enjoy tutoring the subject for which services are provided, the ability to communicate effectively, the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds, and possess great organizational skills.

 The Administrative Assistant reports to the Vice President for Business Services.  Under direct and indirect supervision, the employee provides varied support services to the Vice President, Executive Director of Finance, and Assistant Executive Director of Finance.  Assists other members of the Business Services staff when needed. High School graduate with four years’ experience in accounting and accounts payable experience necessary..  Prefer someone with an associate degree and two years’ experience in a college setting.  An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required as acceptable.

 Chief Information Officer - Full Time, Contract

Eastern Gateway Community College has a rewarding opportunity for an experienced Chief Information Officer (CIO). This position will be based at our main campus in Steubenville, Ohio. We invite all qualified individuals to apply.

The following description indicates different levels and types of duties that will be required of the Chief Information Officer. It should neither be construed as being all-inclusive nor to limit the CIO’s responsibility to assign direct and control the work under his/her supervision.

The CIO serves on the President’s Cabinet providing vision and leadership in the development and implementation of strategic planning and budgeting for all aspects of academic and administrative information system and associated infrastructure. This includes but is not limited to college-wide information systems, educational technology programs, campus networks, information security, database development and accessibility, all telecommunication systems, audio visual equipment and systems and the integration of technology in the learning environment. The CIO is responsible for establishing the technology infrastructure necessary for accurate data reporting, data set up and security, SIS training and setup, SIS access and security and business process analysis.

The CIO is charged with the development, assessment and ongoing analysis of the IT Governance structure, data reporting systems, technology infrastructure and business process analysis for support and data reporting transparency.

The CIO will report directly to the President but will be required to work collaboratively with the Provost, and other Cabinet members to effectively discharge the duties of the office. 

Salary Range: $73,161- $109.817

 Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in information systems management, computer science, information technology, software engineering, or a related area 
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in IT department management and leadership. Three (3) years of documented IT project management work experience. 
  • Experience in higher education setting and the setup and data collection from Student Information Systems is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of current and state of the art information technology issues relevant to the college’s accomplishment of its mission and application to the operations of the technology services department operations. 
  • Experience in and knowledge of operating systems, data base administration, application software design and installation, student information system requirements and setup, and data reporting.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and education which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties

Director, Financial Aid  Full Time - Contract

Under the general direction of the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Director of Financial Aid is responsible for the development, direction, supervision, compliance and evaluation of the college-wide financial aid programs. These programs include Pell Grants (Pell), Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans, Direct PLUS Loans, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), Federal Work Study (FWS), and Ohio College Opportunity Grant (3rd term OCOG). Additional financial assistance programs managed include, but are not limited to, Alternative Loan programs, Horizon Grant, Gateway Grant, Jefferson County Academic Scholarship, War Orphans Scholarship, Ohio Academic Scholarship, Ohio National Guard Scholarship, and NEALP.

The Director of Financial Aid also acts as the Chief Title IV Compliance Officer for the institution. The Director of Financial Aid will provide research and analysis of existing federal and state laws and regulations to align practices with compliance. 

Salary Range:$50,215 - $62,879

• Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.

Enrollment Specialist

Eastern Gateway Community College invites applications for the position of Enrollment Specialist.  The Enrollment Specialist will be responsible for the support, recruitment, enrollment and retention of students at the College.  A Bachelor's degree is required. Three to five years of experience in enrollment services is preferred. Travel, evening and weekend hours may be required.  We have two full-time grant funded positions available at our site in Youngstown, Ohio.


Financial Aid Specialist 

 The full-time bargaining unit position of Financial Aid Specialist will provide varied support services to the Director of Student Financial Services as well as specialized tasks related to student financial aid programs.  Responsible with other staff to greet and wait on students on a walk-in basis.  High school graduate required, associate degree preferred and at least two years general clerical experience.  Courses taken at the college level for accounting/business is also preferred.  There are two positions available.  One is College funded, one is grant-funded.  Both are located in Steubenville, Ohio.

Systems Administrator 

Eastern Gateway Community College is accepting applications for the position of Systems Administrator. The Systems Administrator will be the lead person to monitor, upgrade, install and assist in designing the components of the College Desktop/Server virtual environment, imaging desktops and College computer installations. The Systems Administrator will also work in a team environment to ensure that the Virtual/Desktop/Server environment computer are responsive, reliable, secure and effectively support teaching, learning, and administrative services at Eastern Gateway Community College. This position will be based at the main campus in Steubenville but could require travel to Youngstown and Warren sites.

A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field is required. A minimum of five years of experience in the area of virtual desktop/server, network systems management and troubleshooting over a wide area network. Demonstrated experience using a personal computer, office software, and electronic mail; computer use includes data entry, word processing and/or accounting functions, experience with Windows Server, Unix or Linux and VMware, as well as experience using an enterprise-wide integrated information program such as Ellucian. Needs to demonstrate ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in written form with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the public. Also requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment and can perform independent problem analysis and resolution in various technological settings.


Transcript Evaluator 

 Eastern Gateway Community College invites applications for the full-time Transcript Evaluator position.  This position will be located at the Eastern Gateway Community College campus located in Steubenville, Ohio. The Transcript Evaluator is responsible for evaluating transcripts for all students transferring to Eastern Gateway Community College from other institutions, domestic and/or foreign.
A bachelor’s degree is required.  Two years’ experience working in an admissions/registrar office in a post-secondary institution, previous student services experience and experience working with faculty/staff/students from post-secondary institution is preferred.  Knowledge of Enrollment Management software preferred. Ability to interpret state regulations as well as strong written and oral communication skills is necessary.  Comprehensive knowledge of statewide transfer system, foreign, national and military transcripts is required.  Computer literacy and excellent organizational skills required. 


Trio Student Support Services (SSS) Assistant Director - Full-Time, Grant Funded 

Eastern Gateway Community College is now hiring an Assistant Director to the TRIO Student Support Services (SSS). TRIO SSS serves 160 in college students enrolled at EGCC (Main Campus, Valley and Warren Center sites). The Assistant Director (AD) is a full-time, 12-month position that reports to the Director of TRIO Programs and directs the Program Coordinator/Academic Counselor, Part-Time Licensed Counselor, and Secretary. This position will be based at our main campus located in Steubenville, Ohio, and will be required to travel.  The AD will assist with the development and administration of the program and will be responsible for the successful implementation of all program activities. 

Education and Experience

• Minimum Requirements: Master's degree in counseling, education, student personnel, psychology, sociology, or related field.
• Experience working in similar type program, preferably with disadvantaged populations, in counseling, academic advising, and motivational activities in area of student retention and working with high school students 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Fiscal management, staff supervision, program development, coordination, and management, and serving as an SSS liaison to the college and community.
• Develop the ability to write grant proposals, learn to interpret Federal regulations, and prepare both narrative and fiscal reports.
• Participate in the counseling/advising responsibilities with the Program Coordinator/Academic Counselor.
• Provide direct services to participants and aid in development of materials to promote college and SSS retention.
• Some travel and must be available to work some evenings and weekends.
• As part of providing comprehensive services for participants, the AD will conduct academic and financial aid advising, budgeting, transfer, and career counseling and monitor participant progress. 

This contract position is grant-funded and as such the continuation of the position is totally dependent upon the continued receipt of Federal funds. Good fringe benefits
