WELD 550 – Downhand Welding 1
Downhand Welding 1 provides hands-on training in the welding process commonly used in the oil and natural gas industry. The down-hand process emphasized in this course is used for cross-country pipe lines, manifold systems, and/or pumping stations for transmission lines.
Program Description: 80 Contact Hours
Training is provided in all aspects of pipe welding, starting with up-hand open-root welding, and progressing to techniques and applications of the down-hand process. Multiple position welding methods are addressed to provide the participant hands-on application time in multiple positions. Theory and classroom teaching methods are reinforced with hands-on application of this welding process. This course is preparation for the API 1104 6G and T certification test.
Prerequisite:
Participants must have experience in and/or be certified in D1.1 structural welding in multiple positions and must either present the instructor with a resume and/or list of training/work experience. Instructor approval is required.
This course will allow the participant the opportunity to take the API 1104 6G and T certification test. Welding certifications are performance-based; participants will progress and qualify for certifications based on individual skill.
