Commercial Drivers License Training

Big Rig logoExplosive industry growth coupled with a lack of qualified personnel to meet it means, there are more jobs available in the trucking industry than ever before. All you need to make a move into this exciting profession is to complete your Commercial Driver License (CDL) training. About 300,000 new drivers will be needed to support the current transportation system every year for the next 10 years. This number doesn’t factor in the additional jobs available for CDL licensed drivers for the emerging gas and oil jobs in Eastern Ohio.

Shale and Natural Gas Industry Jobs
The opportunity for CDL drivers finding a high paying job within the shale and natural gas industry is incredibly high. While statistics vary on how much Marcellus/Utica Shale is fueling Ohio's state employment numbers, the industry has done wonders for those who hold CDLs and there seems be a never-ending need for drivers (about 10 percent of jobs in the Marcellus Shale industry are for those with CDLs).

CDL Training
Eastern Gateway Community College, in partnership with Big Rig Truck Driving School, Inc., will provide training for a Class A CDL license with school bus and passenger endorsements. Based in Canton, Ohio, Big Rig TDS has helped over 3,000 people obtain a new career in the driving industry since the mid-1990s.

Jefferson County Course Location
Pugliese Center, 110 John Scott Highway, Steubenville, Ohio.

Cost
The class fee of $4,995 includes all training materials, textbooks, DOT physical exam fee, drug and alcohol screen fee, CDL skills test fee, and use of a tractor/trailer for taking the skills test. Students are responsible for program payment in full before the first day of class to be included in class assignment. WIA funding is available for those who qualify.

*Individuals interested in jobs with the Shale and Natural Gas industry will need a Hazmat endorsement along with the CDL license. Students are responsible for obtaining their own temporary Hazmat permit and for the $89.25 cost for the Hazmat fingerprint check prior to starting class. Visit the Hazprints website to learn about the fingerprinting process.
